Hello, Overthinker

You, my overthinking friend, are a smart cookie.

But that brilliant mind of yours can’t solve every problem or eradicate every uncertainty. You know, because you’ve tried.

What you’ve found instead is that your overthinking just keeps you disconnected from yourself, the people you care about, and if we’re honest, from reality.

And that’s a problem. Because in addition to being intelligent, you’re also sensitive, empathic and care about connecting with others and about leading a life with meaning and purpose.

But you can get so used to overthinking that you forget that it’s not who you are–it’s a strategy you use to create (a false sense of) control, and it’s actually sabotaging you shining as your true self.

The Overthinking Archetype Quiz is your first step to identifying your particular flavor of overthinking so you can untangle your strategy from your identity and have more mental peace.

THE ARCHETYPES

The Worrier

The Worrier believes that mental hypervigilance will allow them to spot potential painful outcomes before they happen, and that they can use their thinking to shift course and avoid having to feel unpleasant emotions.

The Romantic

Whether in their personal or professional life, The Romantic has a clear vision of what they want, but isn’t in touch with the reality of what is actually in front of them. Instead, their mind is preoccupied with possibilities and how to get those possibilities to come to be.

The Perfectionist

The Perfectionist believes that there is a right answer or a right way to do something that will lead to the perfect result. And the perfect result is the one in which they get to avoid discomfort of any kind and get to feel ok within themself.

The People Pleaser

The People Pleaser’s M.O. is trying to avoid upsetting or negatively impacting other people. They hate conflict, opposition, uncomfortable talks and misunderstandings. They love when everything is copacetic and nice.

The Analyzer

The Analyzer’s focus is primarily on how the past relates to the present. Their overthinking is consumed by what if thoughts. By ruminating on what if’s about their past experience, The Analyzer believes they can avoid undesirable outcomes that they’ve already experienced repeating in the future.
