The Psoas Revealed

Your Deepest Core Muscle
and Its Role in Fight-or-Flight (and more)

What if the pain or tension you’ve been trying to stretch away is actually asking for a different kind of attention?

What if it has something to do with your psoas?

The psoas is one of your deepest core muscles. It helps you stand upright, walk, and feel structurally supported from the inside out. But it also influences your nervous system, your breath, your digestion, and your reproductive organs.

If you live with chronic back or hip pain or instability, if you feel wired and braced more often than truly relaxed, if your digestion is wonky, or if you can’t ever quite get a deep breath, it’s worth getting curious about the psoas.

In The Psoas Revealed, we’ll look at the anatomy in a clear, grounded way—so you understand where the psoas is, what it does, and why it’s so often misunderstood. You’ll also have a chance to feel it in your own body through a few simple experiential explorations.

We’ll investigate why the psoas is often called the “fight-or-flight” muscle and even "the muscle of the soul," and what that actually means for your daily life. We’ll question the common story that your psoas is simply “tight and weak,” and consider what might be happening instead.

You’ll leave with:

— A more compassionate and accurate understanding of how your psoas influences pain, posture, organ function, and your stress response

— Language and clarity around what makes this muscle different from others

— A deeper understanding of what supports true psoas health, and how to begin working with it more consciously and intelligently

— Two simple poses you can return to again and again on your own: one to build strength, stability, and grounded confidence, and one to invite deep relaxation and unwinding

— A conceptual understanding and felt sense that can inform your movement, teaching, or therapeutic work

This webinar is for you if you’re a yoga practitioner, teacher, movement professional, or somatic practitioner. And it’s also for you if you’re simply living in a body that doesn’t feel as comfortable or as regulated as you’d like—and you want to better understand why.

To get the most out of our time together:

— Please join from a quiet, distraction-free space, and close any extra browser tabs so you can focus.

— We’ll be doing a few experiential exercises, so wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing and have space where you can lie on your back (a yoga mat or blanket works great).

— Have a yoga block nearby if you have one — or a small couch pillow as an alternative. Both are optional but will enhance the experience if you have them.

This won’t just be information to take in. You’ll have space to feel, notice, and gently explore in your own body.
